# WHITE LIFE: Ollama Starter Checklist

## 2. Know where your request runs

Ollama supports local and cloud models. Select a local model to run inference on your own computer. A cloud model or another external integration may send data to an external service. Installation and model downloads require a network connection.

## 3. Run one small experiment

Follow the official instructions to install Ollama for your operating system. Then run this command in your terminal:

ollama run gemma3:1b
```

The first run downloads the model. The model page lists a file size of about 815 MB; actual RAM use varies with your hardware and settings. Type `/bye` to leave the chat.

Example prompt:

"This guide explains local AI installation and how to check a small public example."
```

## 4. Review checklist

- [ ] Did the installer come from the official website?
- [ ] Is this a local model or a cloud model?
- [ ] Have you excluded customer data, passwords, and API keys?
- [ ] Did you compare accuracy, response time, and memory on the same task?
- [ ] Did you check for invented or incorrect facts against the source?
- [ ] Did you review Ollama's MIT license and Gemma's separate model terms?
- [ ] If it does not fit the task, did you check the costs of a larger model or another tool?

Installing a model does not guarantee revenue, security, privacy, or business accuracy. Do not expose your local API port to the internet. Do not run remote installation scripts without reviewing them.
